As the economy sputtered in recent years, the practice of repurposing vacant or underutilized commercial buildings into medical facilities became a hot trend.

The trend seems to have slowed a bit these days as much of the suitable surplus space has been absorbed in many markets. However, some pockets of empty space still exist, and such projects are still taking place when they make sense for both economic and location reasons.
