Alter+Care Developing Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.

Alter+Care Developing St. Bernards Health & Wellness Institute for St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, ARChicago, IL (January 12, 2011) – Alter+Care is developing the $14.5 million, 54,000 SF St. Bernards Health & Wellness Institute at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, AR.  Completion is scheduled for the fall of 2011. 

“The Institute will house a variety of medically based fitness, treatment and prevention services under a single roof,” said Donna F. Jarmusz, Alter+Care Senior Vice President.  “Facilities will include a state-of-the-art medically-based wellness center including clinical departments that promote health prevention, lifestyle modification, disease management programs and rehabilitation.”

Located at Lakeshore Drive and Logan Avenue, the facility will house a fitness center with an indoor aquatics center; spa services, indoor walking track; group exercise rooms, cardio and strength-training equipment and well-appointed men, women and family locker rooms.  St. Bernards Health & Wellness Institute will be staffed by trained exercise and fitness specialists, exercise physiologists and personal trainers.  Several clinical departments will be integrated with the wellness programs, including the Center for Weight Loss and Diabetes Management, cardiac rehabilitation, outpatient physical therapy, sports medicine and sports performance programs.  Additionally, the Institute will be home to the medical practice of Jonesboro Orthopedics Sports Medicine, which will occupy 6,000 SF.

Ohlson Lavoie Collaborative of Denver is the lead architect; Brackett Krennerich Architects of Jonesboro are the local architects.  Nabholz Construction Services of Conway, AR, is general contractor for the project.
