Dallas-Fort Worth continues to boom

HOUSING REMAINS STRONG, RELATIVELY SPEAKING, AND SO DOES HEALTHCARE

While much of the country wades through an economic slump and housing downturn, the Dallas-Fort Worth area, also known as the Metroplex, continues to defy the odds.

Sure, housing construction has suffered in the last year or so – housing starts were down 28 percent for the year ending in Oct. 31, 2007, according to Reed Construction. However, with growth continuing at astounding rates in the far-flung suburbs – especially in  the north and eastern metro – housing starts are expected to pick up soon, if they haven’t already.

Also, employment in the Metroplex grew by a solid 2.2 percent in year-over-year statistics ending with October 2007, according to the U.S. Dept. of Labor. That job growth ranked Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) fourth best among the countries 25 largest markets.
