CHICAGO, June 9, 2021Stage Equity Partners, LLC, a Chicago-based private real estate investment firm focusing on healthcare real estate (HRE), is expanding its operations with the addition of two new hires.

Joining the company are Alex Katz, who will serve as Managing Director of Development, and Justin Kleifield, Senior Associate – Acquisitions & Asset Management.

“Stage Equity understands healthcare real estate and we have been doing this a long time,” says Brian L. Howard, Founder and President of Stage Equity Partners. “Now we’re leveraging our experience and relationships to offer a new business line for real estate development that will create value for our clients and tenants. We have always been an operator of our buildings and in the trenches with our tenants on management and operations – it’s a natural evolution to get involved on the front end.”

He added, “We are always looking to carefully grow our portfolio and expand into new growth segments of our business, and are excited to bring on talented individuals such as Alex Katz and Justin Kleifield. Over the years, Alex has successfully developed new medical office buildings (MOBs) for top healthcare systems such as Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Advocate Aurora Health. Additionally, Justin is a smart and dedicated leader who will support all aspects of our company and provide additional depth to our portfolio management.”

Before he joined Stage Equity, Mr. Katz served as a Partner with a privately held real estate company that developed both retail and medical properties in the Chicago area. He also previously served as Director of Acquisitions for Next Realty, which is based in Skokie, Ill. Mr. Katz earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa.

“Stage Equity has an excellent reputation throughout the healthcare real estate community,” says Mr. Katz. “I am excited to join Stage and am confident that I can lead a stellar new development program and enhance service to our tenant partners.”

Justin Kleifield

Justin Kleifield previously worked as an Asset Manager at Dayton Street Partners LLC, a Chicago-based niche commercial real estate investment and development firm. He also served as Acquisitions and Asset Management Analyst with Chicago-based Lakeshore Management and initially as a Risk Consultant with RSM US LLP, which is also headquartered in Chicago. Mr. Kleifield received a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business in Bloomington, Ind.

“Stage Equity is fortunate to have built longstanding relationships with brokers, lender and tenants,” says Mr. Kleifield. “I’m eager to work with Stage to help execute the business plan on each asset as we continue to grow the portfolio.”

About Stage Equity Partners

Stage Equity Partners, LLC is a private real estate investment firm specializing in healthcare real estate assets. Brian Howard founded Stage in 2009 to generate significant, long-term yields by focusing on America’s growing healthcare economy.

Based in Chicago, Stage acquires, develops and operates medical facilities that are generally smaller in size and scope than assets targeted by healthcare REITs. By focusing on a fragmented industry niche, Stage has been able to aggregate a top portfolio of Class A medical facilities across the country. Stage’s portfolio includes tenants such as S&P AA rated hospital systems, leading physician groups and national medical service providers.

Stage’s portfolio presently includes assets in Illinois, Georgia, Florida, Texas, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Arkansas and Alabama. By focusing exclusively on healthcare properties and with a hands-on management approach, Stage is able to operate each facility in order to provide the highest satisfaction for its medical tenants and their patients. Combined with strategic location relevance and synergistic tenant mix, Stage is able to compress vacancy risks and generate substantial risk adjusted financial returns.
