PORT ST. LUCIE, FLA (July 15, 2016) – On Friday July 15th, Martin Health celebrated the “Topping Out” of the Tradition Medical Center addition project as the final beam was raised.
Begun in October 2015 to address the expanding healthcare needs of one of Florida’s fastest growing communities, the project includes a 100,000-square-foot, three-story vertical addition to the top of the existing six-story hospital as well as interior renovations. Ninety new patient beds will be added along with a catheterization lab for cardiac care, interventional radiology and vascular procedures; expanded maternity and neonatal intensive care; and an 18-bed observation unit designed to improve the flow of emergency patients who require hospitalization. The new facility designed by HKS Architects, is being constructed by Robins & Morton and managed by CBRE Healthcare.
During the Topping Out Ceremony, each attendee signs a beam that is then hoisted into place. This beam marks the structure completion. The signatures symbolize each individual’s support and contributions to the project. Hospital employees, community members, and the project team members attended the event.
“Martin Health System is committed to ensuring the communities we serve have access to high-quality care, and the Tradition Medical Center expansion is critical to accomplishing that mission,” said Robert L. Lord Jr., President and CEO of Martin Health. “We are working with an incredible team that is helping to make Tradition Medical Center an even more exceptional hospital.” said Charlie Papa, Assistant VP Facilities Management & Support ServicesMartin Health System
