The 2015 Healthcare Real Estate Insights™ Lifetime Achievement Award Winner, James O. “Jim” Meadows, 73, is truly one of the pioneers of the healthcare real estate (HRE) world.

“When Jim led the first medical office building (MOB) development for Meadows & Ohly in 1972, healthcare wasn’t considered a real estate sector,” explains Van Fletcher, the chief financial officer and a principal with the Atlanta-based firm, who nominated Mr. Meadows.

“Jim determined that physicians practicing in close proximity to the hospitals they serve and to referring physicians were most successful. He created an ownership structure that enabled physicians to own their share of the project. That same ownership model is used by Meadows & Ohly today. Jim’s vision of the hospital-physician relationship drove Meadows & Ohly to create expertise in this market years ahead of others.”
