News Release: McCarthy Building Companies Awarded Two Saint Luke’s East Projects

Leawood, KAN. (Sept. 26, 2014) – McCarthy Building Companies’ Kansas City office, opened in May 2013, has been awarded its first local healthcare construction projects. With this win, the local office manages projects totaling more than $900 million.

Saint Luke’s East Hospital recently selected McCarthy for construction of an MRI room, which will accommodate a new MRI machine, and conversion of office space into a break room for physicians and nurses. The project comprises 1,500 square feet.

“Modern Healthcare magazine ranks McCarthy as the country’s largest healthcare general contractor,” said McCarthy Central Division President Scott Wittkop. “We’re very pleased that our first Kansas City-based healthcare projects allow us to apply this specific construction expertise in work with Saint Luke’s Health System, one of the city’s preeminent healthcare organizations.”

In June, the hospital awarded McCarthy the 5,000-square-foot renovation of a previously unfinished space for the new Saint Luke’s Medical Group primary care clinic. The project will revamp the space into clinic offices, exam rooms, an X-ray room and a waiting room to accommodate three physicians who are launching the practice.

The two Saint Luke’s East projects, which combined total nearly $2 million, will be complete by year-end.
