Inpatient Projects: Carolinas Healthcare to determine next steps after adverse court ruling

CHARLOTTE, S.C. – Charlotte-based Carolinas Healthcare System recently lost a bid to build a new hospital in Fort Mill, S.C. after an administrative law judge awarded the project to Piedmont Medical Center, which is based in Rock Hill, S.C.

The issue of which health system should build the Fort Mill hospital has been appealed in court several times. Officials from Carolinas Healthcare System are now determining their next steps, which could include asking Jude Phillip Lenski to reconsider his decision, appeal to the state Court of Appeals, or file paperwork with the state Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC).
