Inpatient Projects: New owner, Duke/LifePoint, plans $290M replacement for Marquette General

MARQUETTE, Mich. – When Duke/LifePoint (DLP) Healthcare LLC announced the formation of a joint venture (JV) partnership in early 2011, it outlined a strategy for acquiring, helping operate and investing capital into smaller, perhaps standalone and/or struggling community or regional hospitals.

So far, the partnership of Durham, N.C.-based Duke University Health System Inc. and Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Hospitals (Nasdaq: LPNT) has acquired four hospitals and a large cardiac group.
