News Realease: ERDMAN Breaks Ground on a New, $15 Million Assisted Living Facility; The 75,000-square-foot long-term care space will hold up to 80 beds

MADISON, Wis. (July 17, 2013) — ERDMAN, a Madison-based national leader in healthcare consulting, facility planning, development and design-build, will break ground today on a new $15 million, 75,000-square-foot assisted living facility in Bourbonnais, Ill. A formal groundbreaking ceremony will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. today at the Bourbonnais Campus, 300 Riverside Drive.

Riverside HealthCare engaged ERDMAN to plan, develop and build the new facility, which will hold a total of 80 beds in two, 16-unit one-bedroom assisted living units. The facility also will include four, 12-unit memory care studio apartments. The residential units are being developed into smaller neighborhoods to bring down the scale of the project to the resident. Riverside HealthCare is a fully integrated healthcare system serving the needs of patients throughout the counties of Kankakee, Iroquois, Will and Grundy in the southern suburbs of Chicago.

“We’re proud to break ground on this new facility in partnership with Riverside HealthCare,” said ERDMAN President and CEO Brian Happ. “Working together, we’ve designed an impressive long-term care facility that will benefit those seeking assisted living services. These innovatively designed spaces have allowed us to meet Riverside’s goal of providing patients with a welcoming environment that helps facilitate a greater quality of life.”

The facility will have a commercial kitchen for main food production with serving kitchens supporting each neighborhood. A café also will be included as part of the main kitchen. In addition, the facility will house administrative office space, a community room, a rehab therapy suite and spa. Supplemental support space for laundry and other daily living activities also will be included in development of the facility.

The project is expected to be completed in July 2014.
