Dean Health System, SSM Healthcare to Lease Facility, Provide  Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, General Surgery and OB-GYN Services

St. Clare MOB - DUSK VIEWcompressed5.15.2013 – Milwaukee – Irgens and St. Clare Hospital have announced the development of a $6.5 million, 30,000 square foot medical office building on the hospital’s campus in Baraboo, Wisconsin. SSM Healthcare (owner and operator of St. Clare Hospital, along with St. Mary’s Hospitals in Madison and Janesville, WI) and Dean Health System will provide a variety of primary and specialty care services including ophthalmology, podiatry, orthopedics, general surgery and OB-GYN. The project, which will sit directly adjacent to the existing St. Clare Hospital, is scheduled for completion in December 2013.

St. Clare Hospital President Sandy Anderson says the new facility will be better able to serve the needs of rural south central Wisconsin residents by keeping care local. “We are creating a new home for more Dean physician specialists and health care services,” said Anderson. That way, our patients don’t have to drive all the way to Madison for their care.”

According to Anderson, the current Dean Specialty Clinic, housed within the hospital, has proven to be very popular with rural patients who are looking to access quality, top-notch specialists.  “The new building will provide even more access to a broader range of Dean specialists, more often, right here in Baraboo.”

The new Medical Office Building will allow Dean to expand upon existing services such as Dermatology, Oncology and Infusion and other specialties as needed. Dean will offer a wide range of additional specialty services including Allergy, Cardiology, Neurology, Urology and many more.

The project will also provide a greater connectivity between St. Clare Hospital services and Dean Clinic services. “Once the new building is complete, our patients can enter at one access point for either hospital services or clinic services,” said Anderson. “They won’t have to go out in inclement weather anymore and, in fact, will be able to have their car parked for them by a valet.”

“After understanding the goals and objectives for the project, we designed a solution that moved the new facility from behind the hospital, where parking was limited and connectivity was an issue, to the front of the hospital in order to create a striking new “front door,” said Dan Cowell, Vice President and Market Manager for Irgens. “This solution will effectively transform the look of the hospital into a modern facility that aligns with the progressive services being offered inside.”

As the developer and owner of the building, Irgens has overseen all facets of the project, including financing procurement, site due diligence, entitlements and design/construction administration. The facility is 100% pre-leased, with Dean leasing 50% and St. Mary’s Dean Ventures leasing the remaining portion. The new facility will allow the hospital to continue to expand its service lines in conjunction with its physician and health system partners.

In addition to Irgens, St. Clare Hospital, Dean & SSM Healthcare, project team members include Eppstein Uhen Architects along with J.H. Findorff & Son, Inc. as the general contractor.
