Madison, Wis. (May 15, 2013) – ERDMAN, a national leader in healthcare consulting, facility planning, development and design-build, today announced the appointment of Bruce Cohen, President and Chief Operating Officer of Ares Commercial Real Estate Corporation – a publicly traded specialty finance company – to its board of directors.
As a respected leader, Cohen will have the opportunity to leverage his years of experience in the capital and real estate markets while serving on ERDMAN’s board. Cohen also serves as a Senior Partner of the Ares Management Commercial Real Estate Group. Prior to joining Ares, Mr. Cohen served as Chairman and CEO of Wrightwood Capital, where he still sits on the board.
“I’m pleased to join ERDMAN’s board of directors as the company plays an important role in its clients’ healthcare and real estate strategy,” said Cohen. “ERDMAN recognizes the role healthcare real estate plays in supporting their client’s long-term growth goals.”
Cohen has been an active participant in numerous real estate organizations, including the Urban Land Institute, the Pension Real Estate Association, the CRE Finance Council and the Real Estate Roundtable, where he formerly served as Co-Chair of the Real Estate Capital Policy Advisory Committee and Chair of the Research Committee.
Additionally, Cohen is a member of The Economic Club of Chicago, and serves on the Real Estate Advisory Board of the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Cohen has been a guest lecturer at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, Kellogg School of Management and Northwestern Law School.
“Bruce’s expertise provides us with a holistic perspective on the ever-changing capital and real estate markets. Bruce’s knowledge and leadership skills will provide continued guidance with the execution of our strategic plan and initiatives,” said Brian Happ, ERDMAN President and CEO. “As the healthcare industry continues to evolve, it’s crucial that hospitals and health systems take a holistic approach to long-term planning, including how their real estate plays an important role in achieving their business objectives.”
Cohen holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and a BA from Tufts University.
