Firm to begin planning and construction on new assisted living facility
MADISON, Wis. (Mar. 25, 2013) – ERDMAN, a national leader in healthcare consulting, facility planning, development and design-build, today announced a new engagement with Riverside HealthCare, headquartered in Kankakee, Ill. Riverside Healthcare has partnered with ERDMAN to plan, develop and build a new $15 million assisted living facility in Bourbonnais, Ill.
ERDMAN will be designing the new 75,000 sq. ft. facility, which will hold a total of 80 beds in two 16-unit one bedroom assisted living units and four 12-unit memory care studio apartments. The residential units are developed into smaller neighborhoods to create a smaller-scale environment better suited to the residents.
“ERDMAN’s design concept of community spaces that are intentionally small-scaled offer an intimate and nurturing homelike environment,” said Michael Mutterer, vice president of Riverside Medical Center’s Senior Living Division. “In keeping with the latest research on environmental design to treat the symptoms of memory loss, our neighborhood concept will enable residents to function at their highest level. In the right environment, with the right programs, coupled with a high level of personalized care and attention, seniors with varying stages of memory loss can live a more healthful, active and independent life.”
The facility will have a commercial kitchen for main food production with serving kitchens supporting each neighborhood. A café also will be included as part of the main kitchen. In addition, the facility will house administrative office space, a community room, a rehab therapy suite and spa. Supplemental support space for laundry and other daily living activities also will be included in development of the facility.
