Partners acquire second large multi-specialty outpatient center in Detroit area

The potential success, or lack thereof, of an off-campus medical office building (MOB) often hinges on a number of factors, with location perhaps being highest on the list.
As far as officers with White Plains, N.Y.-based Seavest Healthcare Properties LLC are concerned, an MOB that they recently acquired outside of Detroit with a joint venture partner is not only a “quality” asset, but one that is in an important location for its anchor tenant, the three-hospital regional provider Beaumont Health System.
Seavest and its partner in the purchase, Troy, Mich.-based KIRCO, in December acquired the three-story, 149,000 square foot off-campus outpatient center on 11 acres on a busy thoroughfare in West Bloomfield, about 21 miles northwest of downtown Detroit. The building, known as the Beaumont Medical Center, at 6900 Orchard Lake Rd., opened in 1989 and was remodeled in 2007.
“We really are thrilled to have made this acquisition,” Jonathan L. “John” Winer, executive vice president of Seavest, tells Healthcare Real Estate Insights. “It’s a great asset, and we consider it to be in a location that is mission critical for Beaumont.”
