$1 BILLION REPLACEMENT FACILITY SLATED TO OPEN IN NEW ORLEANS IN 2014

Hurricane Katrina and the flooding it caused destroyed much of New Orleans back in 2005. Included in the destruction were a number of hospitals, such as the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) hospital.
Since then, the 70,000 registered veterans in the area have gone without a VA hospital, receiving care and services at a variety of area clinics and at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans, which has been providing services through a contract with the VA.
