HOSPITALS REPORTEDLY CONSIDERING SELLING MOBs

Little did professionals involved in healthcare real estate know that when the Greenville Hospital System in South Carolina sold 16 medical office buildings (MOBs) to an investor back in 2009, the type of sale that took place – often referred to as a health system “monetization” – would be a rare breed during the next couple of years.
But that was indeed the case, as most hospitals and health systems put the brakes on selling MOBs – at least those of significant size or in portfolios – for much of 2010 and 2011.
