MALVERN, Pa. – With concern and awareness for concussions on the rise, more of the injuries are being diagnosed than ever before. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in October issued a report indicating that the number of concussions and traumatic brain injuries (TBI) among athletes under the age of 19 increased by 60 percent from 2001 to 2009. One of the keys to recovering from such injuries, according to doctors, is getting rest as soon as possible after the injury has occurred. Of course, this means that brain injuries must be diagnosed quickly and correctly. Could all of these concussions and brain injuries lead to a rise in the number of neurological rehabilitation centers across the country?
