People: RTKL promotes five in healthcare to new positions

JUPITER, Fla. – Jupiter-based VERSA Property Management recently appointed Michelle McCartney as property manager. Ms. McCartney will oversee the day-to-day operations of VERSA’s Illinois properties, as well as its properties in Ohio, Missouri and New York.
Ms. McCartney comes to VERSA with a total of 15 years of property management experience, six of which involved managing medical office space.  She has worked as a portfolio manager, property manager and leasing director with companies such as C&L Property Management, Imperial Realty Co., and most recently, Cagan Management Group in Chicago.
Ms. McCartney will be based in Joliet, Ill., working from one of VERSA’s healthcare properties there.

“Having Ms. McCartney located near Chicago makes sense logistically,” said Beth White, VP, director of property management for  VERSA, in a press release. “She will be in a central location where she can readily respond to the needs of our clients without delay.”

  • Denver-based NexCore Group recently announced that it has named Robert Lawless as chief financial officer. Mr. Lawless succeeds interim CFO Bob Gross, who will assume the role of chief operating officer for the company. Mr. Lawless is a financial executive with more than 20 years of experience working for public and private real estate companies both in the United States and internationally.
  • Yitzie Sommer, who has been involved in research at Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services for more than 10 years, was recently named a VP at the company. Mr. Sommer has frequently provided medical office building sector information to Healthcare Real Estate Insights during the past several years. He works in the firm’s downtown Chicago office. “Yitzie’s contributions to the firm’s research division have been invaluable to our agents and clients,” said John J. Kerin, president and CEO. As a VP, Mr. Sommer continues to work closely with the company’s investment specialists to support property valuation and advise clients on the latest market trends and developments. Mr. Sommer began his career with Marcus & Millichap in 1999 as a part-time research intern and joined the firm full time in 2001. In 2002, Mr. Sommer became the research manager for the company’s National Office and Industrial Properties Group (NOIPG). He was promoted to senior director of research for NOIPG in 2004.
  • Phillip Faircloth recently joined Tampa, Fla.-based RJ King & Associates Healthcare Real Estate Advisors as senior VP – investment sales. “Phillip has a successful record of over 25 years of investment real estate brokerage in four major markets,” said Robert J. King, the firm’s president. “For the last 10 years, Phillip has been recognized as a top office investment sales producer in Florida and brings the highest level of transactional and financial expertise to the RJ King & Associates team.” Mr. Faircloth said RJ King & Associates “has long been Florida’s recognized leader in healthcare real estate services.” The firm’s healthcare team provides services to medical real estate owners, developers and tenants. Its capabilities include brokerage, leasing and management of MOBs and healthcare facilities.
  • Real estate executive Don Hunter has returned to the private sector as managing principal of St. Louis-based Cassidy Turley’s office in Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Hunter had spent the previous 14 months as the VP of real estate and construction at OhioHealth Corp., where he oversaw management of the system’s 6.1 million square foot portfolio as well as its construction and development activities. At Cassidy Turley, Mr. Hunter succeeds Mark Phelan, who left in early 2011 for Westerville, Ohio-based Progressive Medical Inc. Mr. Hunter arrived in Columbus in the 1980s, when he opened an office for Indianapolis-based Duke Realty (NYSE: DRE).
  • Orlando, Fla.-based Paquin Healthcare Cos. appointed Donna Rebarchak as VP of consulting. Ms. Rebarchak brings more than 20 years of experience specializing in retail store design, merchandising, training and buying strategies to the role. Prior to joining Paquin Healthcare, she was a retail director for Aramark (NYSE: RMK), a retail and food services company. Most recently, she served as Paquin Healthcare’s senior consultant on retail strategies. The firm also recently hired financial analyst Monique Beltrami and buyer Sid Raheem to provide additional support to Ms. Rebarchak’s consulting team.
  • Minneapolis-based HGA Architects and Engineers (HGA) recently hired Joey A. Kragelund as associate VP and principal of healthcare design in the company’s Los Angeles office. Mr. Krageland focuses on client relations and new business development for HGA’s Healthcare Practice Group. “Joey has extensive experience in managing healthcare projects for a variety of clients in southern California,” said Michael Ross, VP of HGA in Los Angeles. “He understands the issues transforming healthcare design today, and he is particularly knowledgeable of evolving healthcare delivery methods and costs impacting the healthcare industry.” Before joining HGA, Mr. Kragelund was a principal with HMC Architects in Los Angeles.
