Product Focus: MOB sales rebound

2010 SECOND HALF VOLUME DOUBLES FIRST HALF

Not since the first half of 2008 had medical office building (MOB) sales topped $1 billion in consecutive quarters. But in a strong rebound from nine consecutive quarters of somewhat anemic sales volumes, the MOB acquisition market took off in the third (Q3) and fourth (Q4) quarters of 2010.

With MOB sales totaling $2.15 billion in that second half, the volume was more than double that of the first half of the year. In those slow first two quarters, MOB sales totaled $1.03 billion.

The statistics for MOB sales are provided by New York-based Real Capital Analytics (RCA) Inc., which shares its data each quarter with Healthcare Real Estate Insights.
