32 MILLION REASONS TO LIKE IT AND A FEW NOT TO

Dear Reader:

Now that a healthcare reform law has finally been passed, what will that mean for the healthcare real estate industry?

The $938 billion law – officially known as the America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 – will be a bit of a double-edged sword for healthcare real estate professionals.

It certainly includes some provisions that were opposed by the healthcare industry, including some cuts to Medicare funding and more government regulation. Longer term, however, healthcare providers and healthcare real estate firms stand to gain as the new law will ultimately increase demand because an estimated 32 million uninsured people will obtain medical coverage.
