The capital markets continue show evidence of returning to a stabilized state and the ability to maintain that status as the Fed begins to initiate its long awaited “Exit Strategy.”

The Fed recently reiterated that it plans to hold short-term rates at near-zero levels, but has also said that it will no longer purchase mortgage-backed securities to keep mortgage rates low. So far, this has not led to an uptick in mortgage rates, largely because most borrowers able to refinance have already done so and new purchase activity remains very light.
