As 2009 comes to a close, we can all be thankful it is still not 2008. What a difference a year makes.

This seems especially true for medical real estate. Hospitals have weathered the storm and are experiencing a renewed ability to access tax-exempt capital. They have also benefited from a sharp rebound in investment assets. While the uncertainty surrounding healthcare reform still looms, health systems are once again looking at strategic initiatives as opposed to ducking for cover. This bodes well for hospitals to kick-start stalled projects.
