HEALTHCARE R.E. VETERAN HELPING FIRM RAISE FUNDS, INVEST IN MED PROJECTS

As Seavest Inc. went about its business of investing in and partnering with firms in the development of medical office buildings (MOBs) in recent years, a pattern started to emerge when challenges arose.
Douglas F. Ray, president of the White Plains, N.Y.-based investment management firm, recalls hearing hospital and health system executives bring up one person’s name several times.
“Each deal has its own challenges,” says Mr. Ray. “But there were occasions when we would hit various roadblocks and inevitably the client would say they needed to get John Winer on the phone and get back to us after talking to him.”
After hearing the name several times, Mr. Ray became curious about Jonathan (John) L. Winer, who at the time was a principal with Ernst & Young in New York City. Mr. Winer’s role as director of the firm’s Healthcare.
