Baptist buys land for hospital in ‘Bama
HEALTH SYSTEM PROPOSING 140-BED HOSPITAL IN HOOVER, NEAR BIRMINGHAM

Like putting together a puzzle, Birmingham, Ala.-based Baptist Health system recently completed its third and final land acquisition needed to build its proposed 140-bed hospital in Hoover, Ala., a town of about 70,000 people.
Baptist paid $2 million for a 4-acre parcel near the intersection of U.S. Interstate 459 and Alabama Highway 150 in Hoover, about 12 miles south of Birmingham. The health system acquired the land from the U.S. Steel Corp. (NYSE: X). In all, Baptist now owns 19 acres at the site of its proposed hospital.
