Construction firm chosen for $682M tower in Oakland
OAKLAND, Calif. – Alameda County, Calif., recently selected Sacramento, Calif.-based Vanir Construction Management Inc. to provide program support and construction management for a $682 million replacement tower at ACMC Highland General Hospital in Oakland.
The new 161-bed tower would be connected to a new critical care and clinical center on the 14.25-acre campus. Highland General currently has 231 beds and is one of two acute care hospitals owned by the county.
The project involves the demolition of six structures on the Highland campus as well as the construction of three new structures. The project would result in a net reduction of about 60,000 square feet of space.
The project is slated to begin this year and be completed by 2017. It would include a parking garage and a replacement central plant.
