Santa Ana, Calif.-based American Senior Living (ASL) has targeted three California cities whose age and income demographics make them fertile ground for independent living communities: Tarzana and Tustin, near Los Angeles, and Daly City, near San Francisco.
While ASL has been involved in the development and ownership of more than 27 properties with more than 3,300 units since its founding in 1982, the Monarch Village developments in the three cities are the company’s first venture into independent living, according to CEO Frank Haffner.
His company has been involved in development, acquisition, ownership, financing, management and marketing of senior living communities in California since 1982. In the late 1990s it acquired American Senior Care, a senior housing management firm.
