BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University (FAU) and Boca Raton Community Hospital have signed a letter of agreement that gives them a year to explore a land swap that could lead to the development of a 550-bed replacement hospital costing more than $500 million on the FAU campus near the southeast Florida coast. According to local newspapers, the university would transfer at least 38 acres of its campus to the hospital, while the hospital would locate and acquire other land to transfer to FAU. Building a replacement facility would enable the hospital to expand from its 400-bed capacity without disruptions at its current site.
