News Releases: Hoar Construction Breaks Ground on 32,000-Square-Foot MOB for Central Health in Austin

Located within the Colony Park community, the facility will expand healthcare access to the greater East Austin area

AUSTIN, Texas (June 4, 2026) – Hoar Construction has broken ground on a $37 million, 32,000-square-foot medical office building (MOB) for Central Health in Austin, Texas. The project sits within the Colony Park community in East Austin, set to provide vital health services to nearby residents. Hoar is serving as the general contractor on the project, which is set to be completed by summer 2027.

Called Colony Park Health & Wellness Center, the four-story MOB will include a dental office on the fourth floor, patient care rooms on the third floor and will house a pharmacy, lab and kitchen on the second floor. The first floor will hold the utilities and mechanical equipment, and Hoar will also build a two-story parking garage attached to the building.

“Breaking ground on the Colony Park Health & Wellness Center marks an exciting milestone not only for our team, but for the East Austin community this facility will serve,” said Russell Lloyd, project manager at Hoar. “From complex sitework to the incorporation of innovative water reuse systems, this project aligns with Colony Park’s sustainability-forward mission. We’re proud to partner with Central Health on a facility that will help expand access to essential services within East Austin.”

The facility is being built into the side of a hill in the Colony Park development, creating ground-level access on both the lower, first and second floors, while the fourth level is connected internally by stairs. This unique design requires extensive earthwork and complex site coordination early in construction. Hoar is also incorporating an on-site water reuse system into the project, designed to collect stormwater runoff in a large cistern within the parking structure for irrigation use. The system includes purple piping designated for reclaimed water and aligns with sustainability initiatives encouraged by Austin Water.

This is the first partnership between Central Health and Hoar. Additional project partners include HKS Architects, Datum Rios, LLC as the structural engineer and Moose Engineers as the MEP partner.

Hoar has established itself as one of the nation’s leading healthcare builders, completing nearly $1.5 billion in healthcare projects over the past 10 years. Within Texas, Hoar has served as the general contractor on more than 3 million square feet of expansion, renovation, and new-build projects

for patient beds, ORs, MOBs, CUPs, cath labs and more. Recent projects include the 170,000-square-foot Uvalde Memorial Hospital in Uvalde and a seven-story, 140,000-square-foot bed expansion at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo.
