St. Louis, MO, Sept. 19, 2024 — In collaboration with partner HHP, University of Chicago Medicine’s new food hall inside the Center for Care and Discovery (CCD) building will celebrate its grand opening on Sept. 24.
With ample space for unwinding, meeting up, and eating, the CCD Food Hall expands dining options with two local brands and a celebrity chef-founded eatery:
- Sip of Hope Coffee: Locally brewed coffees, teas, espresso-based drinks and pastries with 100% of proceeds supporting proactive suicide prevention and mental health education.
- Burrito Beach: Scratch-made, award-winning dishes blending traditional Mexican street food with fresh California cuisine.
- Root & Sprig: Fast casual concept designed for healthcare environments offering wholesome options from acclaimed chef and television show host Tom Colicchio.
“Our food hall is a reflection of our commitment to listening to employee feedback and enhancing the overall hospital experience for our community,” said Emily Chase, Chief Nursing Officer for UChicago Medicine. “It will transform working in and visiting our hospital.”
The CCD Food Hall was brought to life through collaboration with HHP and conceptualized by architectural collective Figure Design, with local firm DAAM finalizing the design. BOWA Construction completed the build.
“We wanted the design to accommodate individuals coming to the space to recharge, as well as employees looking to connect with each other,” said Eylse Agnello, Founding Principal of DAAM. “The timeless, natural palette provides a calm, inviting backdrop for both.”
