News Release: Carilion Clinic to Expand Emergency and Specialty Care in Botetourt County

The expansion will bring 24/7 emergency services and additional specialty care closer to home

Daleville, Va. (Oct. 20, 2026) – Carilion Clinic broke ground on Tuesday, Oct. 20, on an expansion of its Daleville facility, bringing 24-hour emergency care and additional specialty services to Botetourt County and surrounding communities.

The project will add 40,000 square feet to Carilion’s existing 25,000-square-foot facility, significantly expanding access to care in one of the region’s growing communities.

A key feature of the expansion will include a fully staffed emergency department on the first floor, which will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The addition will also house a multispecialty outpatient clinic adding general surgery, orthopaedics and cardiology to the existing OB/GYN, imaging and primary care services onsite.

“This project reflects Carilion’s continued commitment to investing in the health and well-being of the communities we serve,” said Paul Davenport, Senior Vice President for Ambulatory Operations at Carilion. “As we move into this next phase, we look forward to expanding access to emergency and specialty care for our community in Daleville and Botetourt County, making it easier for patients and families to receive the care they need, close to home.”

Leaders from Carilion Clinic, Landmark, Botetourt County announce the groundbreaking of the Daleville Carilion Family Medicine park’s new emergency department and outpatient facility on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026, in Daleville, Va.

The new emergency department will occupy approximately 15,000 square feet on the first floor, with dedicated parking and convenient walk-in access. A nearly 13,000-square-foot multispecialty clinic will occupy the second floor. Additional space on both floors will be reserved for future outpatient services, allowing Carilion to continue to respond to evolving community needs.

Carilion is partnering with Landmark Healthcare Facilities LLC, which will serve as the full-service developer and property manager of the addition. The two organizations will jointly own the new addition. Landmark is a leading developer of the complete range of outpatient buildings and operates nationwide.

Deeni Taylor, the Chairman and CEO of Landmark, said, “Landmark is honored to serve as the full-service developer and property manager for this project. We are proud to support Carilion in their longstanding commitment to improving the health of their communities.”

Construction is expected to be completed in 2027. The existing Carilion practices will remain in operation throughout construction, ensuring patients can continue receiving care without interruption.

Once complete, the expanded 65,000-square-foot facility will bring primary care, specialty services and emergency care together at one location, supported by Carilion’s broader network of hospitals and specialists.
