New facility will be the largest Valley Health Center in Santa Clara Valley Healthcare system
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CALIF. – Santa Clara Valley Healthcare (SCVH), the public hospital system for the County of Santa Clara, has completed construction and is set to open the new Valley Health Center (VHC) San José-Campbell location at the corner of South Bascom Avenue and Southwest Expressway in San José. The VHC San José-Campbell location will open September 28.
The state-of-the-art facility will be the largest health center in the SCVH system, featuring more than 200 exam rooms and a full range of outpatient services, bringing comprehensive, all-in-one medical care under one roof. The modern medical facility was specifically built near high-density housing and at the Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) Bascom Station light rail stop to provide easy access for patients traveling to the facility. It is within walking distance of more than 11,000 households and a 10-minute drive for more than 90,000 people. VHC San José-Campell is in a mixed-use development and part of the City of San José’s Urban Village strategy.
“Healthcare should be convenient and accessible for everyone. Bordering both Campbell and San José, the services offered here aren’t confined to one city. This project stands as a true embodiment of the County’s mission, serving any resident who needs care,” said County Supervisor Susan Ellenberg, who represents District 4.
VHC San José-Campbell is a 10-story, 230,000 square-foot medical office building with 600 structured parking spaces and modern clinical floors designed to consolidate services currently spread across the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center campus.
Earlier this year, the Board of Supervisors approved the purchase of the VHC San José–Campbell site, opting for ownership rather than a long-term lease. The acquisition of 1410 S. Bascom Ave., financed entirely through lease revenue bonds, is expected to save the County more than $112 million over 30 years while securing long term control of a major healthcare facility serving tens of thousands of residents annually.

The acquisition of this site reflects a cost effective, forward thinking investment, which is especially prudent as we continue to navigate unprecedented federal funding cuts.”

Service lines at VHC San José-Campbell will include adult medicine, OB/GYN subspecialties, adult and pediatric urgent care, behavioral health primary care, dental care, diagnostic imaging, family medicine, maternal and fetal medicine, pediatric primary care, pediatric subspecialties, pharmacy and lab collection. Urgent care hours will be open until 9:30 p.m. on weekdays and until 5 p.m. on weekends.
