The community health center for Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic supports whole-person care through integrated medical, dental, behavioral health and pharmacy services
ASTORIA, Ore. — [September 15, 2026] — Neenan Archistruction, a fully integrated design-build firm based in Colorado, completed the Coastal Family Health Center, a 26,000-square-foot community health center developed for Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic that expands access to coordinated medical, dental, behavioral health and pharmacy services for patients across the northern coast of Oregon.

Located in Astoria, the recently opened two-story facility was designed to support Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic’s mission of transforming communities through compassionate, individualized care, eliminating barriers to care and well-being. The new center significantly expands the organization’s ability to serve the region through integrated care delivery, bringing a broad range of services together in one location to improve convenience, care coordination and patient outcomes.

The approximately $15.5 million project includes 24 medical exam rooms, 10 dental operatories, behavioral health spaces, laboratory services, a drive-through pharmacy and administrative support areas. The facility was designed to streamline patient access to care while creating a more efficient environment for providers and staff.

Constructed on a constrained site less than 500 feet from the Columbia River, the facility transformed a previously underutilized property into a community-serving healthcare destination. To maximize site efficiency while meeting local zoning and pedestrian-access requirements, the building was elevated above covered parking, allowing the majority of patient services to be located on the second floor. The design also incorporates Astoria’s first drive-through pharmacy, improving convenience and accessibility for patients throughout the region.
The project reflects a thoughtful approach to both patient experience and operational efficiency. The facility’s integrated layout supports communication among care teams and enables patients to access multiple services during a single visit, reducing barriers to care while creating a more seamless healthcare experience.
Designed with the local community in mind, the center incorporates elements inspired by Astoria’s maritime heritage. A custom sensory wall in the pediatric waiting area features reclaimed nautical artifacts, including repurposed boat components and maritime equipment, while a locally commissioned mural celebrates the character of the coastal community. Expansive windows throughout the facility provide natural light and views of the Columbia River, creating a welcoming environment for patients, visitors and staff.
Early patient feedback reflects many of the project’s intended outcomes. Recent reviews highlight the facility’s convenient location, welcoming atmosphere, modern design, on-site pharmacy and scenic views. One recent patient said the facility’s “second floor is beautifully designed — spacious, modern and professional, with a clean, sterile appearance that immediately puts you at ease. … The exam rooms are beautifully equipped with modern, clean facilities, and the view of the Columbia River is absolutely stunning!”
After completing construction in late 2025, the Coastal Family Health Center officially opened in January. The facility expands access to coordinated medical, dental, behavioral health, nutritional health and pharmacy care for communities across coastal Oregon.
