Brand new facility will significantly expand veterans’ services in Citrus County
LECANTO, Fla. (Sept. 1, 2026) – Hoar Construction announced today the groundbreaking of a new VA Clinic in Lecanto, Florida. The general contractor is leading construction on a state-of-the-art, 60,000-square-foot clinic, nearly triple the size of the existing Lecanto outpatient facility. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on July 24, and the center is expected to open its doors to patients in 2028.
“We’re proud to have officially kicked off construction with the recent groundbreaking,” said Davis Wilson, Project Manager at Hoar Construction. “Projects like this are especially meaningful because they directly improve access to care for local veterans, many of whom have been commuting great distances to access specialized care. Our team is committed to delivering a high-quality facility that will support exceptional care and meet the needs of veterans throughout Citrus County.”
Situated on a 15-acre site, the new VA clinic will provide outpatient care for more than 17,400 veterans in Citrus County, which accounts for 12% of the veteran population in Florida. At completion, the care center will host 110 employees, nearly a 100% increase from the existing clinic. Project plans feature large, sound-proof audio booths to assist patients facing hearing loss, a dedicated bus stop, x-ray imaging and cutting-edge physical therapy equipment.
“This project has been several years in the making for veterans in Citrus County, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to get started,” Development. “The new clinic will allow the VA to serve more patients and provide a wider breadth of care, including mental health, physical therapy, prosthetics, radiology and more. It is imperative our local veterans have access to the services they need, and this center will play a critical role in making that possible.”
Project partners for the Lecanto VA Clinic include HC Development as the developer, DAU Architects as the architect, Bob D. Campbell as the structural engineer and Affiliated Engineers as the MEP engineer
