The 75,000-square-foot, ground-up facility expands access to comprehensive, patient-centered care in San Diego County’s South Bay
Pacific Building Group, an award-winning, San Diego-based general contractor, recently completed construction of Sharp Rees-Stealy Chula Vista, a new ground-up medical office building in Chula Vista, California. The 75,000-square-foot, three-story healthcare facility is designed to expand access to high-quality care throughout the South San Diego County community.
The project was developed by healthcare real estate developer PMB in partnership with Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group and designed by HGW Architecture.
Conveniently located at 480 H St., at the Chula Vista Center mall near Interstate 5, the new facility consolidated services from multiple nearby Sharp Rees-Stealy locations to improve accessibility for patients and support the region’s growth. The facility houses a comprehensive range of outpatient services including primary and specialty care, urgent care, physical therapy, radiology, cardiology, neurology, laboratory and pharmacy departments. It is connected by a covered bridge to a 127,000-square-foot, 375-stall parking structure further enhancing accessibility for patients and staff.
“This project demonstrates what can be achieved when experienced teams across the healthcare, design, development and construction sectors come together around a shared vision,” said Andre Childers, President of PBG. “Working alongside our partners, our team delivered a facility that meets the demands of modern healthcare while enhancing both the patient and provider experience.”
Built within an active commercial environment the project required careful coordination to maintain safety, access and ongoing operations throughout construction. For PBG, the completion of Sharp Rees-Stealy Chula Vista reinforces the firm’s expertise in delivering complex, ground-up healthcare facilities.
“Healthcare projects demand a high level of coordination, attention to detail and partnership,” said Garrett Taylor, Project Manager at PBG. “From early planning through final delivery, our focus was on being a reliable partner to Sharp and meeting their standards for each department within the facility.”
Now open to the public, the facility represents a significant investment in the future of healthcare delivery in the South Bay.
This project marks the second community-serving medical center PBG has completed for Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group in south San Diego County. In early 2025, the PBG team completed the $86 million transformation of the Sharp Rees-Stealy Otay Ranch medical center. The project included construction of an expanded 60,000 square feet of space to the medical center located at 1400 E. Palomar St. with urgent care, advanced imaging technology and expanded specialty services.
