NATIONAL – While there are certainly reports that a number of legacy health systems – those centered on operating hospitals – are doing better financially, the country’s healthcare delivery model is in need of change in order to survive and to provide cost-efficient, high quality services for patients.

The current problem comes down to the fact that even though patient volumes have increased in recent years to record levels, this is not translating into higher margins for most hospitals and health systems.
