Companies & People: Q&A with Jordan Selbiger of Colliers

Veteran broker discusses his new leadership role and the HRE market

As Colliers International Group Inc. (Nasdaq: CIGI) was creating a national healthcare real estate (HRE) capital markets practice to bolster its overall healthcare service offerings in 2023, it brought in a couple of veteran HRE brokers to lead the team.

In October 2023, Colliers announced that it had recruited Lee Asher and Jordan Selbiger from the U.S. Healthcare & Life Sciences Capital Markets team at CBRE Group Inc. (NYSE: CBRE) to its own U.S. Healthcare Capital Markets Practice Group.

Assuming the role of vice chair and group leader was Mr. Asher, with Mr. Selbiger taking the role of VP.

Within a few months, however, in March 2024, Mr. Asher left Colliers and the brokerage business to focus on acquiring HRE properties with Boca Raton, Fla.-based Kayne Anderson Real Estate, where he is now senior managing director and head of the prolific HRE investment firm’s Medical Office Real Estate division.

Subsequently, Colliers named Mr. Selbiger to lead its healthcare capital markets group.

According to Mr. Selbiger’s biography, he brought more than nine years of commercial real estate experience to his role at Colliers, including more than six years dedicated to HRE. Prior to joining Colliers, he served as first VP for CBRE’s U.S Healthcare & Life Sciences Capital Markets team. During that time, he was involved in more than 90 HRE transactions totaling more than 16 million square feet and an aggregate value topping $6.5 billion.
