For behavioral health facilities, a proven track record in the key, Colliers’ panel says

As behavioral health continues to become a more vital aspect of the country’s overall healthcare delivery model, especially since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for facilities providing such services has grown as well.
As a result, during the past few years, firms and professionals involved in healthcare real estate (HRE) have been trying to determine how to deliver and provide facilities that can best provide behavioral health services to what is certainly a growing population of patients who need them.
A panel of professionals involved in both behavioral health itself and the real estate aspect of it discussed a wide range of topics concerning the subject at the Colliers National Healthcare Conference in San Diego in mid-September. The host of the conference was Shawn Janus, national director of healthcare for Colliers.
As one of the panelists, Chance Sherer, managing director in the Valuation Transaction Advisory service line with Dallas-based VMG Health, noted,
