The space will be the new home of the neuroscience service lines
Orlando, FL (March 28, 2024) – Orlando Health Neuroscience Institute is opening a brand-new facility in the heart of the healthcare system’s downtown Orlando campus that will serve patients throughout the southeastern United States.
The three-story, 45,000-square-foot medical office building will house neurology, neurodiagnostics, neurosurgery specialists, interventional pain management, rehabilitation and more. The institute will offer highly specialized experts as well as education for a diverse range of neurological disorders, including epilepsy, multiple sclerosis (MS), muscular dystrophy, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease and all types of spine disease. The multidisciplinary team includes more than 45 physicians and more than 20 advanced care providers who offer next-level treatments and technology tailored to patients’ unique needs.
Features will include:
- The Orlando Health Neuroscience Institute Spine Care Center
- C-Arm and EOS imaging machines for enhanced and total spine imagery, which give clinicians the ability to more quickly diagnose and treat patients’ spine and neck pain
- A rehabilitation clinic that includes state-of-the-art therapy equipment focusing on spinal rehabilitation, open movement and exercise
- 19 neurology exam rooms, a treatment room for procedures and a consult room for the memory disorder clinic
- EEG reading room
- Lecture hall
“This remarkable facility signifies our dedication to advancing neurological medicine, as well as reinforces our focus on the patient experience,” said Cary D’Ortona, president, Orlando Health Medical Group. “From diagnostics to rehabilitation, our patients will now have one convenient, all-encompassing space to receive their highly specialized, expert care.”
The new facility was designed in conjunction with Orlando Health’s Sustainability Design Guidelines, which resulted in a 15 percent energy use reduction when measured against a baseline energy model for this facility size. Orlando Health also developed a clinical ‘pod’ design for this project, which will allow clinical teams to increase throughput during high-demand periods and improve the patient experience.
The institute is home to Central Florida’s only Joint Commission-certified Designated Spine Center of Excellence and Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center. It also has the certified Orlando Health Multiple Sclerosis Comprehensive Care Center and an ALS Certified Center of Excellence.
The new building is located at 76 W. Underwood Street in Orlando and will officially open in April.
