New Role Reflects Health System’s Focus on Expanding Ambulatory Footprint and Increasing Health Care Access
West Orange, NJ, August 31, 2022 — RWJBarnabas Health, the largest, most comprehensive academic health care system in New Jersey, has appointed Stephen K. Barry as Executive Vice President of Facilities Management and Real Estate Development. In this new role, Barry will lead day-to-day facility management, oversee all major construction projects at the system’s acute care and ambulatory locations, and manage a comprehensive plan to optimize and expand its ambulatory footprint.
Reporting to John Doll, Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Barry will lead a team dedicated to managing and maintaining facilities and real estate holdings across the system.

An established real estate executive, Mr. Barry joins RWJBarnabas Health following an 18-year stint at Rendina Healthcare Real Estate, where he served as president and formed and maintained close relationships with leading health systems and physician groups across the nation – tailoring solutions for clients that focus on ambulatory strategy and market share growth. He also created and executed Rendina’s growth strategy for expansion into new markets and forged partnerships with real estate services firms. During this time, Mr. Barry gained experience in all facets of health care real estate – including development, leasing, and property management – and drove the development of more than 1.5 million square feet of outpatient facilities.
Previously, he spent two years as an analyst with J.P. Morgan in New York.
A current member of the ULI Health Care and Life Sciences Council, he collaborates with industry leaders on matters related to the finance, development, and operations of acute care and specialty hospitals, medical office buildings, outpatient centers, ambulatory care facilities, and life science/research facilities.
Mr. Barry graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from the University of Notre Dame.
