Voyages Behavioral Health Announces Plans for Dallas Location

DALLAS, TX – August 22, 2022 – Voyages Behavioral Health (“Voyages” – an affiliate of PAM Health) is pleased to announce the future opening of Voyages Behavioral Health of Dallas, a state-of-the-art behavioral health hospital. Voyages Behavioral Health of Dallas will be located at 3320 Live Oak, Dallas, TX, and is being developed by Dallas-based Prevarian Companies.

The Dallas location will help meet the tremendous need for inpatient psychiatric care in the region. In recent years, the number of psychiatric beds in Dallas has declined, although demand has not. According to Mental Health America (MHA) Dallas’s report, “The 2022 State of Mental Health in America,” Texas ranked at the bottom of the states in relation to access to mental healthcare in 2020 and 2021. In addition, in MHA’s August 2021 report, “The Severe Depression and COVID-19: Communities in Need Across the U.S.,” Dallas County was ranked 10th in severe depression among large counties and 6th in suicidal ideation.

Recognizing the tremendous need for behavioral health services, PAM Health established Voyages Behavioral Health to offer specialized care to this important patient population. “PAM Health’s expansion into behavioral health is an exciting endeavor that aligns with our mission and vision,” says Kristen Smith, PAM Health’s Executive Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer. “With this new hospital, Voyages Behavioral Health of Dallas will address patients’ comprehensive needs and help them achieve sustainable, long-term health and wellness, while ultimately reducing the cost of care.”

Once open, Voyages Behavioral Health of Dallas will feature 72 patient beds with specialized programs. Offerings will include services for medically complex patients aged 18 years and older, geriatric, and adolescent care explains Andrew Hardin, SVP and COO of Voyages. “Our multi-disciplinary team of psychiatrists, internists, clinicians, and other specialists will provide comprehensive and coordinated short-term care tailored to each patient’s needs,” he says. “The main care components include diagnostic behavioral health evaluation, solution-focused treatment,

behavioral strategies with inpatient and partial hospitalization, medication evaluation and management, intensive outpatient programs, and aftercare planning.”

The new Behavioral Health Hospital is located adjacent to the Baylor Scott & White University Medical Center and offers exceptional views of downtown Dallas. Guide Architecture’s Dallas office designed the Hospital. Allan Brown, Partner at the Prevarian Companies, explains “working with the Voyages team has enabled the adaptive reuse of an existing building and has resulted in an exceptional environment for patient care.”
