October 22, 2021 Southern California private equity firm IRA Capital (“IRA”) is pleased to announce the acquisition of Boca Raton Outpatient Surgery & Laser Center in Boca Raton, FL (“the Property”). The Property is 100% occupied and leased to an affiliate of Surgical Care Affiliates (“SCA”) – the largest provider of outpatient surgery in the United States and an operator of 230 Ambulatory Surgery Centers in 35 states performing over 1 million procedures a year.
Boca Raton Outpatient Surgery & Laser Center is one of the leading multispecialty outpatient surgery centers in South Florida, with over 120 physicians that perform surgeries across specialties that include anesthesiology, cardiology, gastroenterology, general surgery, gynecology, ophthalmology, oral surgery, orthopedic surgery, ENT, pain management, plastic surgery, podiatry, and urology. The facility is located less than a mile from Baptist Health’s 400-bed Boca Raton Regional Hospital, and features 8 state-of-the-art operating rooms including two endoscopy suites. The surgery center building sits on approximately 3 acres of land, and IRA’s plans for the site include developing a new medical office building which will provide additional clinical space to support the physicians and medical services provided at the surgery center.
IRA Capital continues to be among the most active healthcare real estate investor. As part of IRA’s medical office acquisition strategy, single and multi-specialty surgery centers have been a large focus, with the latest Boca Raton acquisition representing IRA’s sixth surgery center acquisition in the past few months. According to IRA Capital co-founder Amer Kasm, “IRA is pleased to continue expanding its relationship with SCA, which strongly aligns with our objective of growing strategic partnerships to operate best-in-class medical properties. Our investment in the Boca Raton Surgery Center is representative of IRA’s healthcare real estate strategy, which is heavily focused on acquiring critical-operation healthcare assets backed by long-term leases and strong credit.”
