News Release: Northwestern Medicine Opens First New Medical Office Building in Southwest Suburbs

JULY 08, 2021

Northwestern Medicine is continuing its expansion into the south suburbs with a new medical office building in Mokena. The three-story, 48,000-square-foot facility at the corner of Route 30 and South Owens Road features primary and specialty care services, as well as an Immediate Care Center. Physicians began seeing patients in the new building in mid-June. The Immediate Care Center opens July 12.

“Opening the new Mokena location is a milestone is our expansion into the southwest suburbs,” said Howard Chrisman, MD, senior vice president, Northwestern Memorial HealthCare. “It is another example of Northwestern Medicine’s commitment to providing high quality, compassionate health care to communities throughout the Chicagoland area.”

The new ambulatory site will extend access to Northwestern Medicine into the south suburbs to better meet the healthcare and wellness needs of patients closer to where they live and work. Specialty services include gynecology with plans to add orthopaedics and obstetrics. X-ray, CT, and a point-of-care laboratory are featured at this location. Additional diagnostic imaging services are scheduled to open later this year.

The public is invited to an open house at Northwestern Medicine Mokena, 21202 South Owens Road, from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, July 10. Tours of the new building will be offered with additional information available in the Immediate Care Center, Lab, Exam Rooms and Point of Care Procedure Rooms. Staff will also discuss telehealth options. Those who complete a tour will receive a ticket for a complimentary ice cream.

Palos Health officially became part of Northwestern Medicine on January 1, 2021. Palos Medical Group, which includes more than 60 physicians, 32 providers and 100 staff members, will officially join Northwestern Medicine Regional Medical Group on September 1.

Anchored by Northwestern Memorial Hospital, the No. 1 hospital in Illinois by U.S. News & World Report, Northwestern Medicine offers care across northern Illinois at 11 hospitals and more than 200 ambulatory sites, provided by a combined workforce of more than 36,000 physicians, nurses and staff.
