New hospital and clinics will expand care to growing region

Milwaukee — Advocate Aurora Health broke ground Wednesday on a 96-acre campus in Mount Pleasant that will expand access to high quality care in Racine County and complement the primary and specialty physicians from the organization who are already providing care for area patients.
The Aurora Medical Center in Mount Pleasant will feature emergency and inpatient services, two clinics focused on primary care, and a medical office building. Located at the northeast corner of I-94 and Highway 20, the facilities will offer a variety of services to meet area residents’ and employers’ growing need for high quality, affordable care.
The medical center is part of a larger effort by Advocate Aurora Health to expand access to care in Racine County and surrounding areas. In addition to this facility, Advocate Aurora Health is building three new clinics in Mount Pleasant, Racine and Pleasant Prairie that are all scheduled to open in 2020. The Aurora Medical Center in Mount Pleasant is expected to open in 2022 and is projected to bring more than 300 new jobs to the area in its first year.
“This facility is the cornerstone of our commitment to help build an even stronger and healthier community,” said Lisa Just, President of Advocate Aurora Health’s East Corridor Patient Service Area. “Along with the clinics we’re building across Racine County, the Aurora Medical Center in Mount Pleasant will increase access to services that will help people live healthier lives.”
Participating in today’s groundbreaking ceremony were Advocate Aurora Health Chief Operating Officer Bill Santulli, Lisa Just, Wisconsin State Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, Dr. Joon Park of Advocate Aurora Health, and Village of Mount Pleasant President Dave DeGroot. Duane Kuiper, whose family owns the land where the hospital will be located, spoke at the ceremony as well.
