Local officials, business leaders and friends joined the Physician Partners of Orthopaedic & Spine Center to celebrate the ground breaking at 580 City Center Boulevard, for a new Ambulatory Surgery Center/mixed-use building.
“We are very excited about this historic advancement of Orthopaedic and Spine Center”, said Dr. Carlson. “We look forward to the improvement in patient care that the Ambulatory Surgery Center will make possible”.
Newport News, VA. (PRWEB) AUGUST 30, 2018
Upon completion, the almost 57,000 square-foot building will feature three stories, with retail spaces on the first floor, medical office space on the second, and the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) on the third floor.
WNIS Radio Personality, Tony Macrini, served as the Master of Ceremonies, formally welcomed guests and dignitaries to the event and provided a brief history of Orthopaedic & Spine Center (OSC). Newport News Councilwoman Dr. Pat Woodbury spoke about the economic impact the new building would have on the community.
Dr. Jeffrey Carlson, Managing Partner and President, spoke on behalf of the Physicians of OSC. He recognized James River Architects, W.M Jordan Company, ATCS – Civil Engineers, and Harvey Lindsey Commercial Real Estate, whose teams have been instrumental in the delivery of the design and execution of the project. He spoke about the vision that compelled the OSC physicians to move forward with the planning, design and construction of the ASC and also spoke about the jobs that would be provided to the community.
The Physician Owners then proceeded with the symbolic “turning of the soil”. Dr. Grant Etheridge, Senior Pastor of Liberty Baptist Church, offered the blessing and benediction. Immediately after, each physician released a white dove to symbolize the hope and healing the ASC will bring to the community.
A dessert reception was held after the ceremony, which Newport News Mayor McKinley Price, DDS attended, as well as a representative from US House Representative Bobby Scott’s office.
