News Release: The Neenan Company, Castle Family Health Centers Break Ground on Replacement Clinic in Winton, Calif.

Expanded operations to add 30 jobs to the local community

Fully integrated design-build firm The Neenan Company was chosen by Castle Family Health Centers to serve as the design-build partner for a 13,500-square-foot clinic in Winton, Calif. The project marks the first property Castle Family Health Centers will own, signifying a milestone for the organization and its sound business growth.

“We are thrilled to be working alongside Castle Family Health Centers to expand the capacity for comprehensive care to patients in the Winton community,” said Steve Barnes, senior vice president at The Neenan Company. “The project is a great example of the health center’s commitment to making quality services more readily available to Winton and the surrounding area’s residents.”

The new clinic will serve as a replacement facility for Castle Family Health Centers’ current clinic in Winton, providing a 60 percent increase in the clinic’s size and bringing services that had previously only been offered in the health center’s main clinic in Atwater, Calif. The new development will expand the space by 9,300 square feet, accommodating additional service offerings including behavioral health, dental care, and a pharmacy to complement the current primary care services.

“The opportunity to own our own clinic and real estate truly signify a proud milestone for our organization,” said Edward Lujano, CEO of Castle Family Health Centers. “Our board of directors, the majority of which is comprised of users of our clinics, is truly committed to investing in patients, by putting resources into this venture to better serve the community.”

The one-story building will feature 18 exam rooms, five dental operatories and three behavioral health offices. Once operating, the clinic will create 30 new jobs for the community, including the addition of four new medical providers. Anticipated for completion in early 2019, the state-of-the-art facility is fully funded by external donors, including Central California Alliance for Health which is contributing $2.5 million to the project through its Medi-Cal Capacity Grant Program, to meet the needs of the Medi-Cal population in Winton and surrounding community.

“The Alliance is pleased to support the construction of the new Winton Clinic,” said Stephanie Sonnenshine, CEO of Central California Alliance for Health. “The new facility will double Castle’s capacity to deliver health care for Medi-Cal members in Winton and the surrounding area, resulting in increased availability of services for Alliance members. The new facility will reflect a patient-centered approach to care including wraparound services like dental, behavioral health and health education. The dedicated staff of Castle Family Health Centers has demonstrated their commitment to the community over the past 21 years and will continue to provide quality care to our members.”
