The renovated space opened in February 2017 and the expansion was finished in September 2017. The $14.5 million Zimmer Cancer Center project successfully consolidates a hospital based oncology program with a local physician-based practice to streamline healthcare delivery for both patients and providers. Cape Fear Cancer Specialists moved its Wilmington practice into physician offices at the on-campus facility. Growing demand for infusion space has been satisfied. The cancer center’s revamped design also achieves the goal of providing a more inviting space for patients and their families, with a more modern, open look.
