Due to the project’s scale, the city directed plan review to OSHPD’s Sacramento office, which lengthened the project schedule. To offset time for additional scrutiny, the team coordinated with multiple city agencies for off-hours inspections. A new surgery center nearly doubles Good Sam’s outpatient surgical capacity and includes operating rooms large enough to support the latest technology in spinal surgery, which Medicare is now reimbursing on an outpatient basis. The project’s strategic location complies with CMS on-campus reimbursement requirements, allowing the surgery center to either function as an ASC or a hospital outpatient department.
