Perrysburg, OH – Recognizing that our patients want to receive healthcare closer to home, Mercy Health is working to create access to comprehensive services in smaller, more convenient locations. Today, we’re pleased to announce the construction of a new addition to our Perrysburg campus to house expanded services for patients in the Perrysburg and surrounding communities
Mercy Health will build a $56.3 million facility that will house a hospital, surgery center and medical offices, all in one location. The new facility reflects a forward thinking approach whereby healthcare systems create destination campuses where patients have access to comprehensive services in one location where they live and work.
“Mercy Health’s mission of extending the healing ministry of Jesus to improve the health of our communities compels us to think in a different way,” said Dr. Imran Andrabi, president and CEO, Mercy Health – Toledo. “We will meet patients and families where they live and work by creating accessible points of care for convenient, comprehensive healthcare services, delivered in efficient, flexible facilities designed around patient care.”
Since 2013, Mercy Health has been providing emergency care and diagnostic services – and most recently comprehensive cancer care – to Perrysburg and the surrounding areas. As more people look to raise their families in the community, the time is right to further our footprint and grow the Mercy Health Perrysburg campus into a one-stop destination for the community’s healthcare needs.
The hospital and medical office building will be designed with patient care in mind. In particular, patients desire a place close to home that still offers high quality care at a lower cost. This new facility will do just that.
“With the rise in consumerism combined with advancements in technology and a primary care focused care model, we’re changing how and where healthcare is provided in this community,” Dr. Andrabi added.
The hospital will offer 28 inpatient beds designed for patients needing 2-3 nights for inpatient treatment or care. This is in addition to the 18 beds currently under construction on the third floor of the cancer center which will connect seamlessly to the new unit when the facility opens in 2019.
Patients requiring more complex care, will continue to be transferred to Mercy Health -St. Vincent Medical Center. However, with the construction of this new facility, the majority of patients will be able to stay in Perrysburg.
Not only will Perrysburg and the surrounding communities benefit from this hybrid model of care, but it will also bring approximately up to 177 new jobs to the community by year three from its opening.
The 101,000-square foot facility will begin construction this summer and is anticipated to open in Spring 2019.
