Inpatient Projects: Hospital in growing Columbia, S.C., expanding with $400 million, 175-bed plan

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. – In an effort to keep up with what is being called “exponential” growth in Lexington County, S.C., about 100 miles south of Charlotte, N.C., Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia is in the midst of a $400 million expansion plan that will add a 10-floor tower, 545,000 square feet, 175 beds, eight operating rooms, and 20 specially designed nursery beds for new mothers and their babies.
