Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration approved the health system’s Certificate of Need (CON) application today.
The planning and construction process will take about three years. Meanwhile, Verinder said, Sarasota Memorial remains committed to investing in medical services in North Port and continuing to attract physicians to the area, with the goal of opening a hospital there as well.
“We believe that the establishment of the Laurel Road facility will greatly help in the recruitment of medical staff throughout south county,” he said. “Our vision is to establish hospitals in key locations, first on Laurel Road and then in North Port, to bring convenient acute care to these growing communities.”
